THE students will become the teachers when the unlikely combination of cupcakes and fascinators are the focus of a Re-generate Youth Festival event tomorrow.
A group of youngsters studying a tourism course at TAFE will host Krazzy Creations – a workshop for those who love to cook and design.
Wagga High School year 12 students Teneka Corcoran and Paige Nicholls are on school holidays but have still been hard at work helping to organise Krazzy Creations.
“We are studying the tourism course as a unit of our HSC,” Teneka said.
“It was up to our class to come up with the idea and then Wagga City Council found a spot for us, with the youth festival being the perfect place.
“It’s been a great experience for us and also gives schoolkids something fun to do on their holidays.”
Re-generate continues today with the Zine Workshop – for those who have ever wanted to publish their own book, comic or art – and the Hair, Fashion and Beauty Workshop.
The festival finishes tomorrow, with the Billy Hyde Allison Music Battle of the Bands one of highlights of the “eight days of awesomeness”.
Bands will rock it out in a bid to take home some of the $2000 in cash and prizes on offer.
The event will be held from 7pm to 11pm at the Capital Entertainment Centre and tickets are $10 at the door.
