Writers to share inspirational tale

GUEST authors Sharyn Killens and Lindsay Lewis will share their inspirational journey at Northcott’s next Literary Luncheon, to be held on June 26.

The pair have been friends for more than 20 years, and recently collaborated to tell Sharyn’s story in their new book, The Inconvenient Child.

Its inspiring story is set in 1948 Sydney and tells of an unnacceptable liaison between pretty blonde Grace and a visiting black American merchant marine, which leaves Grace pregnant.

Sharyn was born in the midst of the White Australia Policy and grows up learning to cope with the often-hostile white society, then searching for her father.

But the story is not all about heartbreak - it is also a tale of triumph, faith, courage and joy, detailing Sharyn’s success as entertainer Sharyn Crystal.

The pair will be the guest authors at the Wagga Country Golf Club on June 26, raising money for Northcott.

Tickets are $40 for the event, which includes a two-course lunch and beverage on arrival, with guests to arrive at 11.30am for a noon start. Bookings can be made through Book City Wagga on 6921 8933.
