WAGGA has no excuse for not cleaning up its act on Sunday.
The Tidy Towns Committee, with the support of Wagga City Council and SITA, has organised a Clean Up Wagga Wagga Day.
Neighbourhood public areas and roadside approaches are the primary targets and there is a bonus of a free entry day for everyone at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre.
The clean-up day will be held just two days before Keep Australia Beautiful assesssor Mike Vogle arrives to check out Wagga.
Many of the city’s schools, service clubs and individuals have signed up to spend part of a school day or Saturday or Sunday picking up rubbish.
Mike will look at the overall “invitability” of the city as a place to “live, work, play and invest” as well as investigating the involvement of community groups in projects that have contributed to improving Wagga’s environment.
The projects are:
The community effort in de-silting the northern end of Lake Albert.
The work of ErinEarth and the students of Kildare Catholic College in providing a habitat for native wildlife.
The Wagga Mountain Trail Bike Club conservation work at Pomingalarna Reserve.
Anyone interested in helping out should contact John Rubens on 6926 3447 before Sunday or Bob Williams on 0409 302 427 on the day.
