MOST people have heard of the saying “It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it”.
You can let that “someone” be the MPOWER Youth Group and Kings Youth Services when it comes to washing your car on Saturday.
The groups from Kings Christian Church are holding a car wash fundraiser at Glenfield Caltex in Fernleigh Road, with donations of $7 taken for small cars and $10 for larger vehicles such as four-wheel drives.
MPOWER Youth is an inclusive high school-aged crew of young people who meet from 7pm to 9pm on Friday nights during school terms.
Kings Christian Church also operates the programs Shine, for girls in years 7 to 9, and Strength, for high school boys.
Shine is aimed at teaching teenage girls their
self-worth and that their life has a great purpose, while Strength encourages boys to develop skills.
Another Kings Youth Services initiative is operating breakfast for students in Mount Austin High School, TAFE and the Bidgee School weekly, serving a healthy breakfast to encourage students in their work and to maximise their concentration to learn.
Kings Youth Servics has a supportive network of businesses to help with the breakfast weekly, including Fonterra, O’Brien’s Hot Bake Bakery, Wagga Fruit Supply and Lake Albert Foodworks.
The car wash will be held with the support of Glenfield Caltex, Noel Comerford’s Auto Parts,
Ultra Tune, Auto Barn, O’Brien’s Hot Bake and Coates Hire.
