SALLY Ingram has wanted to be a performer from the time she said her first words.
Now 14, Sally finds her life is revolving around music and she is loving every minute.
Sally and fellow high school student Sarah Andrews took more steps towards stardom at the weekend when they teamed up for Buskamania, a busking competition at the Re-generate Youth Festival.
"It's been my goal since I was born to make a career out of music," Sally said.
"Events such as Buskamania are important for young people ... it gives them a chance to shine."
Sally is a drummer but showed her versatility by playing the guitar at Buskamania, while Sarah made a big impression with her singing.
The pair's talent was recognised when they were named winners of the The Leader Encouragement Award.
It was their first time busking together, but they know each other's talents well as they are members of the same bands.
Sally and Sarah appear in Blue Illusion - a 10-piece jazz band - as well as Nouveau, which appeals more to the younger generation with its indie rock genre.
"Sometimes we are peforming in front of an older crowd and other times its the younger ones," Sarah said. "It doesn't worry us either way ... we just love to get out there and enjoy the music."
