Royal-tea gathering in Wagga

28 Apr, 2010 03:55 PM
MISS Wagga Tamara Hope will enjoy a cuppa this morning when she joins the city's fundraising "royalty" for a royal-tea celebration.

Tamara will be among the special guests at a morning tea which the Cancer Council will host at the Wagga Country Club.

The event will acknowledge Wagga's outstanding contribution to Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and double as the official 2010 launch of the popular fundraiser, held annually in May.

"Our fundraisers are our royalty," Cancer Council community relations co-ordinator Prue Densley said.

"Last year morning tea participants across south-west region raised more than $213,800 towards the nationwide total of $10 million.

"Our royal-tea is just one way to thank local supporters for their amazing contribution to the cancer cause ? whether they are a top fundraiser, or someone who holds a morning tea event year-in-year-out."

Member for Wagga Daryl Maguire and Cancer Council advocacy network members and advisory committee will also attend the morning tea.
