Put your brain in gear before parking

THE rule is simple – only use the car park if you are a customer.

Kincaid’s Heritage Fruit Market’s David Jones says he is typical of the Wagga business owners who people “take advantage of” when looking for a convenient park.

“I pay $3000 a month in rates for the carpark, so I need it to be available for my customers,” David said.

“Unfortunately, there are some people who come along and park there and then walk to other businesses in the area ... they don’t come near my shop at all.

“And I am not the only place in Wagga where it happens – I’ve heard a number of other people complaining about similar situations.”

David estimates he has told “at least a dozen” unwelcome visitors to remove their cars since taking over the Fitzmaurice Street fruit market in February.

“All I ask is for people to be fair,” David said.

“I have six staff members and even they struggle to get a parking space at times.”
