Program spreads cancer message

26 May, 2010 01:59 PM
A GROUP of volunteers in the south-west region are set to spread the word on cancer prevention and early detection under the Cancer Council’s Community Speakers Program.

Cancer Council has specially trained volunteers and will launch the new program with a presentation on Friday.

“The Community Speakers Program gives community groups an opportunity to hear some important information that members can use in their everyday lives to reduce their risk of cancer,” Regional Programs co-ordinator from Cancer Council’s south-west region office Megan Savin said.

Community groups are provided with a range of presentations, including diet and lifestyle choices for cancer prevention and specific cancers – such as bowel, breast and prostate – through the talks.

To attend the launch at 11am on Friday and learn first-hand how the Community Speakers Program can benefit you, book at the Cancer Council on 6937 2600.

Confidential cancer support is available at the Cancer Council Helpline on 13 11 20.
