LIFE has taken several twists and turns for Megan Thomas since she finished high school.
The 35-year-old Wagga mother is now preparing for one of her most dramatic changes as she starts a Bachelor of Nursing course at Charles Sturt University.
Megan has spent seven years planning her uni move and says she is ready for Orientation Week, which starts at CSU Wagga on Monday.
"It's really scary but exciting at the same time," Megan said.
From information sessions to campus tours and personal wellbeing and safety seminars, the O-Week program has everything covered for the university newcomers, who will also fit social functions into their schedule.
"I have a busy week planned, but it won't include any parties," Megan said.
Megan has worked as a cook at a takeaway food shop, a school cleaner and a home carer for the elderly. She is currently employed in domestic service at Calvary Hospital, which she said has helped in her decision to take a new direction in life.
"The nurses where I work have been so supportive, giving me encouragement and some great tips," Megan said.
Megan has already completed courses at TAFE and the Riverina Community College, and she has first aid and community service certificates as well as forklift and boat licences. "I have wanted to get as many qualifications as I can to use in the workforce," Megan said.
Megan will start university a week after her oldest child Chloe, 16, begins a chef's course at TAFE.
