Kapooka on target with its mission

01 Jul, 2009 09:53 AM
RIVERINA Army Rugby Club players will show their true colours this weekend, even though they will not be wearing their traditional guernseys.

The third grade players will be seen in pink when they come up against Wagga City on Saturday as they raise funds for the Cancer Council.

Recruits at the Kapooka base have also purchased black T-shirts with a pink ribbon logo and are training in them this week leading up to the Southern Inland Rugby Union game.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the game at Kapooka, with the third grade starting at 1pm, the seconds at 1.50pm and firsts at 3pm.

Recruits will take a bucket around on the day to collect donations.

Kapooka has gone all-out this week in its efforts for the Cancer Council.

Twenty two physicial training instructors had their hair coloured pink before conducting a training session.

With recruits donating to the cause, Kapooka is hoping to raise between $18,000 to $20,000 from the event.

The Cancer Council will also benefit from a fund raiser at Just Cuts in the Marketplace on Saturday.

A head and beard shave will be held from 11am.
