ASH Grunwald’s sound is so unique he finds it hard to describe.
Wagga will get an insight to Ash’s music when the 33-year-old singer-songwriter appears at the Capital Saloon Bar tomorrow as part of his tour to coincide with the release of his fifth album Hot Mama Vibes.
“It’s a mish-mash of different musical elements,” Ash said. “The best description I can give is bluesy dance music with some junk percussion.”
Ash is strongly influenced by blues music, while he also makes the most of 21st-century technology associated with hip-hop.
“The blues music is extremely important and we combine this with electronic beats as well as junk percussion.
“We have one band member who hits a car door with a hammer, belts a kitchen sink and has cymbals made out of 44-gallon drums.
“I am also a part of the percussion as I sit on a drum and play different types of drums with my feet.”
Ash, who has been touring for 10 years, is returning to Wagga after impressing at Dusty Days.
“The show has sold out in a few of the country areas we have played in, so we are hoping the success continues when we come to Wagga,” he said.
Doors will open at the Saloon Bar from 8pm.
