INTERESTED in birds?

Wagga Watchers, a small group of local people with an interest in birds, meets regularly in the local area under the auspices of Bird Observation and Conservation Australia (BOCA).

BOCA is one of the oldest birding groups in Australia with 41 branches and affiliates in the eastern states of Australia.

Despite this, the south-western area of NSW has only limited opportunities for people to indulge in bird watching.

The next outing for the Wagga Watchers will be this Sunday, June 28, visiting Pomingalarna Reserve, Flowerdale Lagoon and part of the Wiradjuri walking track along the Murrumbidgee River.

Bring binoculars, morning tea, chair, sunscreen, hat, a drink and lunch if you want to have a picnic in the field.

The meeting point is Apex Park, Lake Albert (look for the BOCA sign) at 8.30am. From this point, the group will travel to Pomingalarna, working its way back to the other areas and finishing at about 2pm.

If you are new to birding, or even new to the area, it can be difficult to know where to go, what to look for, where to look and how to identify the birds that you see. BOCA?can help in these matters.

Contact Bob Carr on 6922 4205 (after hours) or 0434 950 671 for further information.
