WITH our population ageing, many people worry about regular changes to government policies and support services which affect them.
There are also potential risks to older people through the use of computers and ATM technologies.
With this in mind, the local branch of the Association of Independent Retirees (AIR) held discussions with member for Riverina Kay Hull.
As a result, AIR is offering a free information evening for those who have retired or considering retirement on tomorrow at 6pm at the Seniors Community Centre, Tarcutta Street.
There will be speakers from the Australian Consumer Communications Action Network (ACCAN), which is the peak body representing all consumers on communications issues, including telecommunications, broadband and emerging new services.
ACCAN promotes better consumer protection outcomes to ensure speedy responses to complaints and issues and aims to empower consumers so they are well informed and make good choices about products and services.
National president of the Association of Independent Retirees, Theresa Kot, will mention some of AIR's significant achievements such as the rebate for private health insurance, other health issues such as the introduction of the Commonwealth seniors health card for people over pension age, taxation, superannuation and other general issues.
