Display pushes pedal power

17 Mar, 2010 01:33 PM
KEITH Wheaton's life revolves around vehicles ? both big and small.

The preparations manager at Thomas Bros enjoys restoring pedal cars and similar collectables in his spare time.

"I restore my pedal cars ? they are genuine models made by Cyclops from the 1920s to the 70s ? from scratch and I love the challenge of seeing the project through from start to finish," Keith said.

"They are based on real vehicles and I try to get one done every 12 months."

Keith has 20 pedal vehicles, with his favourites a Clipper car ? similar to what Noddy would drive ? and a 1936 Bedford tip truck. He will have close to 10 of them on show at the Pedal Power Display at the Kyeamba Smith Hall at the weekend.

Pedal cars, trikes. scooters and bikes from as far away as Sydney and Wangaratta will be displayed at the Wagga Showgrounds venue.

The event will be held from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday, and from 9am to 4pm on Sunday.

Entry is $2 and children under 16 are free, with proceeds going to Country Hope. For further information contact Bryan Barklem on 6922 1540 or 0404 892 227.
