Council watch group to form

24 Feb, 2010 01:00 AM
A PUBLIC meeting has been organised for next month to formally establish a community-based council watch group.

The new-look format and structure will represent all residents whether they are ratepayers or not in the Wagga electorate, covering the district from Tarcutta and Humula in the east, Downside and Harefield to the north, Mangoplah to the south and Collingullie and Galore in the west.

"Decisions made by the Wagga City Council affect all residents in the electorate," convenor Erwin Richter said.

"May I make an assurance that while ever I and other key people are involved in the proposed entity, that never will there be a repeat of the farcical circumstance which ultimately led to the demise of the so-called Ratepayers and Citizens Association some years ago.

"Those actions and happenings created much unease and loss of credibility from within the community."

The meeting will be held from 7.30pm at the Wagga Commercial Club on Thursday, March 4.
