COMBINE an artistic flair with the spirit of giving and what do you have?

The answer is the ingredient to get involved in the national Art Of Giving competition.

Kmart is hosting the event, which is inspired by its popular Wishing Tree Appeal.

"We are hoping the schools in Wagga get right behind the Art Of Giving," Kmart's Wagga store manager Ann Campbell said.

"It's great for the kids to get involved and have the nature and culture of giving instilled in them from an early age."

Students can win their primary school up to $20,000 by drawing, painting a picture or making a collage which represents to them the spirit of giving. Every student who participates will receive a certificate.

Ann is hoping the competition will grow in popularity similar to the Wishing Tree Appeal.

Australia's largest Christmas gift appeal has distributed more than four and a half million gifts to people in need over the past 21 years.
