CASEY Pomeroy has likened her life to a whirlwind after dining with the Olympic aerial skiing team, signing autographs for children in Utah and starting a nursing degree at Wagga's Charles Sturt University in just a matter of weeks.
The teenager's feet have hardly touched the ground since she returned to Wagga at the weekend following three months in the United States as part the Australian aerial skiing development squad, known as the Flying Kangaroos.
An exhausting flight back to Australia did not stop Casey from waking at 5am on Sunday to see the Aussie team compete at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
"It was hard to believe I was here in Wagga watching them in Canada after we had all been eating dinner together only a couple of weeks ago," Casey said.
Casey, who is the daughter of Bryan and Di Pomeroy, said she appreciated the chance to gain invaluable experience in Utah.
"We did a lot of skiing - something we could not have done in Australia - and also saw the World Cup while we were over there ... it was amazing," she said.
Casey received a taste of stardom when she was asked to sign autographs while in Utah.
"We had a day when we signed autographs and had our pictures taken with kids in hospital ... it felt a bit weird," she said.
The former Mater Dei Catholic College student's hectic schedule continued when she embarked on Orientation Week at CSU on Monday.
