THERE is no need to read between the lines when it comes to working out why the Kyeamba Smith Hall is a hub of activity this weekend.
More than 30,000 books will be on sale at the Rotary Club of Wagga's key fundraising event at the Wagga Showgrounds.
The publications have been donated by Wagga residents and only those in top condition will be offered at the eighth annual Book Fair.
"From biology to bellydancing, there are books for everyone," joint co-ordinator Neil Hilpern said.
"There is every book imaginable and also some you would never imagine.
"The range includes romance, thriller, fantasy, western and general as well as a diverse range of non-fiction -from animals and art to texts and transport -split into 30 separate categories."
Children are particularly well catered for, with more than 4000 kids' books available.
"There is a huge range of material for younger children as well as youth, and apart from books there are also CDs, DVDs and videos, sheet music and magazines," Neil said. The majority of books will be priced between $1 and $7.
"They are at prices everyone can afford ... the odd book will be down to 50 cents," Neil said.
The fair has enabled the Rotary Club -celebrating eight decades in Wagga -to raise more than $100,000 for community projects in the past seven years. "It's a great project that underlines what the club has been about over its 80 years ... raising funds for Rotary community activities as well as recycling material which otherwise might go to waste and, at the same time, encouraging reading -especially as it makes it more affordable," Neil said.
The Book Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
Entry costs $2 for adults while children are free and there will be a barbecue all weekend.
