Bear all in the name of love

10 Feb, 2010 09:52 AM
FOLLIES Fancy Dress owner Kim Tickner can rely on Wagga's most romantic residents to buy the biggest Valentine's Day gift she has on offer.

Kim stocks a 1.3-metre high teddy bear - complete with love heart - which is the most elaborate present at $208.

"I always have people come along and buy the big bear ... they love him," she said.

Kim has a stall at the Wagga Marketplace until Valentine's Day on Sunday, selling gifts to cater for all budgets.

Follies' bears sell from $7.50, while the velvet roses range from $1 to $6.50 and balloons from $2.40 to $60.

"The $60 balloons have a voice recording, so people can leave a message for their loved one," Kim said.

Kim believes the best part about Valentine's Day is that it appeals to all ages. "I had a lady who bought a rose for her son in kindergarten, while people in their 70s and 80s come along and pick out presents," she said.

There is also a "naughty corner" at the stall for adults looking for a gift with a difference.

Follies will take lay-bys and can also hold the present until Sunday to make sure the surprise is not spoilt.

The stall will be open from 9.30am to 6pm until Sunday and to 9pm on Thursday, while the Morgan Street store will operate as normal and can be contacted on 6971 8181.
