THEY may never be mentioned in the same breath as the masters, but a group of Wagga artists have done their best job of emulating them.

Wagga Art Society’s exhibition Fabulous Fakes will feature paintings inspired by the famous works of greats such as Monet, Kadinsky, Heyson, McCubben, Long, Braque, Turner, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Degas.

“We have copied paintings done by some of our famous artists,” the art society’s Jenny Nixon said.

Small Street Art Studio, off Tarcutta Street, will host Fabulous Fakes, with a gala opening scheduled from 6pm to 8pm on Friday. The exhibition will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
