Another achievement for Wagga dance teacher’s resume

09 Feb, 2012 06:00 AM
BELOVED Wagga dance teacher Anne Reardon has added another impressive achievement to her glowing resume after completing a prestigious international qualification.

In 2011 Anne completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance in London.

It is one of numerous qualifications Anne has completed over the course of her 20 year career, but the certificate she holds in the highest esteem.

The Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organisations.

The academy was founded in 1920 to re-invigorate dance teaching within the United Kingdom; however the institution quickly expanded its influence and activities internationally.

Currentl y more than 1,000 students are studying in full-time or part-time teacher training programmes with the academy and the organisation has a presence in 79 countries including Australia.

“Studying for this certificate took place over two years, with the majority of the work completed via correspondence,” Anne said.

“I was required to participate in numerous residential schools and workshops in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra to successfully obtain the certificate.”

For Anne, the decision to undertake the certificate through the highly-regarded academy was inspired by her desire to increase the opportunities afforded to her students.

“This certificate will have enormous benefits to my students,” she said.

“By introducing the RAD system at SCPA the students will have an opportunity to gain an internationally recognised qualification.”

Anne will travel to London in July, accompanied by her husband, sister and the artistic director of SCPA Lydia McNamara, to attend the glamorous graduation ceremony at the Royal Academy of Dance.
