LOVE can be a complicated business.
We have to make choices about who we love, who we leave behind, and everything in between.
Behind the Curtain Theatre Company’s production of Love Bites explores all this and more, in a witty comedy about love and life.
The show, which kicked off last weekend and continues for six more performances this weekend and next weekend at Romano’s Hotel, combines the plays Speed Date by Janet Allard and Dating Games by Garth Wingfield into one great night of entertainment.
The cast includes new and established local talents, Alison Beahan, Ben Rankmore, D-Waun Watkins, Katrina Fowler, Kyle Campbell and Kylie Gilchrist.
Director Rohan Maloy said the show reflected everyday life, but with a slightly absurd twist.
“The story explores the basic human condition,” he said.
“No one wants to be alone, and as the story unfolds we begin to realise there is no story, but merely characters enacting a series of failed attempts to connect.”
Fans of Behind the Curtain Theatre Company’s production Pick Ups are expected to also enjoy Love Bites.
Romano’s Hotel is also offering a special deal of two-for-one meals for ticketholders before the start of the show.
People are urged to enjoy a night out with friends, have a meal and then head upstairs for the production and plenty of laughs.
Tickets are available through the Civic Theatre booking office on 1300 292 442 or www.civictheatre.com.au, or at the door.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for concession, $15 for pre-booked students and $10 for students at the door.
The remaining performances will be held tomorrow, Friday and Saturday nights, as well as June 17, 18 and 19, with each show kicking off at 8pm.
