Thumbs Up for 30/4/08

UP to Neville and the staff at Allen’s. I recently went in to price a bread maker that makes gluten free bread. I saw it previously in the catalogue on sale, with a saving of a hundred dollars and planned to go in and get one. Lo and behold, I was sick when the sale was on. I mentioned this as an offhand comment, and before I could say boo, the lady serving me had called for Neville and explained this to him. Needless to say I walked out a very happy customer, getting the bread maker for almost the same price as it was advertised for in the catalogue. (Contributed)

UP to the lady from KFC in Fitzmaurice Street who managed to have our stolen pet staffy returned to us. She found him rummaging in the shop’s rubbish bin and she rang her partner to pick him up, give him a bath, feed and water him. They even let him sleep on their lounge room floor until they managed to track us down through his microchip. Our kids and my husband are rapt to have their pet back. It is refreshing to see that there are still people in our community who don’t mistreat animals, but nurture them. (Contributed)

UP to Mater Dei’s production of Leader of The Pack. A most entertaining and professional performance by these very talented students. Well done to everyone connected with this production. I can’t wait for the next one. (Contributed)

UP to Mick and Vicki and their furniture shop at the corner of Bourke and Urana streets. I have recently moved house and had to buy some furniture to suit the new accommodation. Mick was very friendly, obliging and helpful for this occasion. (Contributed)

UP to the Commercial Club’s new dining room. They look after me and others so well. (Contributed)

UP to Woolworths in the Marketplace for hosting the Girl Guides Harmony Day raffle and for providing $100 worth of international food for the prize. Thanks also to Mayor Kerry Pascoe. The winner was Ms Pan of Estella. Thanks also to the generous people of Wagga who bought tickets or gave a donation to the Girl Guides. (Contributed)

UP to Beth from the 6.30am session of the “Pool of Knowledge”, at the Oasis. Beth is organising a group membership of 50 or more so that we can access the group concession of $190 for a 12-month membership. This is a great saving for those of us who need daily physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Forms can be collected from the front desk at the Oasis. (Contributed)

UP to Collins Couriers. They were able to organise urgent medical equipment from Melbourne to Wagga overnight when other freight companies said it wasn’t possible. Well done guys and thanks. Keep up the great service. (Contributed)

UP and a huge thank you to the three ladies who found and returned my handbag recently. I was out looking around the garage sales and realised I had lost my handbag, which contained everything of value that I own. The lovely ladies even made my husband, my friend and I a coffee to try to calm me down and didn’t accept the money I tried to give them. I want them to know just how extremely grateful I was. UP to Alex – thankyou from the bottom of my heart for observing my handbag, which I had left on the boot of my car. Thankyou for following me, for picking my bag up when it fell off the car and for delivering it to my daughter-in-law’s work. The panic was horrible when I discovered what I had done. I know that people generally are wonderful. We only hear about the 10 per cent who make life unbearable. (Contributed)

UP to Amanda, a wonderful lady who came to my aid when I slipped over in Coles Supermarket recently. Being heavily pregnant only added to the seriousness of my fall but Amanda remained calm and in control. She stayed with me until my husband and ambulance staff arrived, although I am sure she had a million other things to do. Thank you also to her young daughter Lucy who showed great patience while her mum saved the day! Thank you also to the ED staff of WWBH and to the two Temora ambulance staff. (Contributed)

UP to the Wagga City Council for caring for Rocky Hill by spraying for noxious weeds. It’s great to have an open space in the city. (Contributed)

UP to Tarah at Fantastic Furniture for her outstanding attention to details and her honest enthusiasm for the products she sells. She has made a big decision for me so much easier to transact. Hope you are there for our family’s many more purchases. (Contributed)

UP to Robyn and Jeff from Summit Personnel who made free transport available to take young people safely home from the recent Hip Hop 4 Harmony concert organised by RCC at the Wollundry Lagoon Amphitheatre. (Contributed)
