UP to police officer Jane McLennan, Dr Sarah, emergency ward staff at Wagga Base Hospital and doctors Ghazy and El Fanabary of the Best Street Dental Clinic who took care of my 16-year-old son after he was viciously assaulted on a daylight walk to a local mall to meet friends. It was a heart-breaking and frightening experience but your compassion and guidance has not only assisted him in healing physically but also mentally. If anything positive has come out of this, it’s knowing these people serve our community and their professionalism and dedication goes without saying. (Contributed)
UP to Ashleigh from the Hair Colour Cafe. You always take time to listen to my 101 instructions on how I would like my hair to be coloured. You are an asset to the business as not only do you do a great job, but you are of the attitude “nothing is too much trouble”. (Contributed)
UP to the Australian Pen Museum on Fernleigh Road. I was surprised when I went into the hardware store, to find an exquisite collection of parchments, quills, desks, inkwells and everything associated with writing. I was amazed to see a parchment displayed from the 16th century. Another parchment, which is believed to be the only one in existence, is a transcript of President Lincoln’s Proclamation of Emancipation in 1883. Another parchment is showing the sale of slaves and how much was paid for them. All the schools in Wagga should be ashamed that they have not taken students on excursions to this extremely important museum. Thumbs down to the council for not even coming out to see the museum, and having the audacity not to include it in the tourism pamphlet. A huge thumbs up to Bruce and Sue Wicks who have collected the memorabilia and put in an incredible amount of work. (Contributed)
UP to Atlanta from the Wagga Fone Box in the Sturt Mall who was very patient and helpful when I came to recharge my mother’s phone. She explained the problem we had. Great service, keep up the good work. (Contributed)
UP to the business who donated their time and donations to the Sunny Cove Retirement Village recently. Thanks go to Alan Harris McDonald Funeral Directors, Sturt Mall Florist, South City Meats, Ferndale Distributors, Star FM and the wonderful music supplied by Long Gone Daddys. Also a big thank you to Keith Lugton for all the organising. (Contributed)
UP and a big thank you to Tony of Makehams Coaches for looking after my mother when she suddenly became ill on a recent trip. His care and actions were very much appreciated. (Contributed)
UP to the It Takes Two shows. What a great show, the talent was so good. Big thumbs up to our local boy Joel Harrison, he was great. Keep it up Joel, we have been watching you around town and you are going to be big. Can’t wait for the CD to come out. (Contributed)
UP to all those people who refuse to use the self-serve checkouts because they are taking jobs away from our young people. Only if we band together and boycott these checkouts can we send a message to big business that enough is enough. (Contributed)
