Thumbs up for 27/02/2008

UP to the staff of Wagga Base and Calvary hospitals. My mother was recently taken by ambulance to the base emergency department. She was impressed by the care and professionalism of the staff involved, especially considering the constant pressure and limited resources that were all too obvious. She noted the contrast between the level of her care and the design of the hospital better fitted to an era when demands on staff were less pressured. Thank you. (Contributed)

UP to the Best Western Ambassador Motel on Edward Street. Recently my wife and I staying at the motel while visiting Wagga when my wife took ill. When it was time for my wife to go to the doctors, she inquired at reception for a taxi. Tina from the motel not only drove her to and from the doctor’s surgery, but also to the chemist to collect her prescription. Her assistance and customer service at this difficult time was greatly appreciated. (Contributed)

UP to the young man who changed a tyre for me when I was stranded at the Shell servo on Edward Street recently. You wouldn’t accept anything but a “thank you” for your help. Thanks also to the lady who stayed back to warn me about the flat. You’re both great people and I hope someone does you a good turn soon to reward you. (Contributed)

UP to the Museum of the Riverina for providing top quality exhibitions and performances. Last year we were fortunate to see the Dora Day Davenport Show for $5 per ticket. A performance enjoyed by all. In a recet Herald, February 16, in Spectrum, Sydneysiders can see the performance for $69. How lucky are we! Many thanks to the museum for providing entertainment we can all afford. (Contributed)

UP to the management and staff of the Loreto Home of Compassion. As a lady who has not worked out of the home for over 30 years, I appreciate greatly the help, advice and confidence building encouragement I have received from the ladies working there. From taking that extra time to explain the way things are done, to on several occasions, staying way past their rostered finishing time to ensure I am confident with the work that needs to be done. Thanks for all being such a great group of co-workers. (Contributed)

UP to the Wagga City Council for their swift action in spraying the dreaded catseye noxious burrs on two occasions on the well-used dirt track on the north-west side of Coleman Street between the Docker Street railway crossing and Bimbeen Street. (Contributed)

UP to The Leader for your article for Valentine’s Day and for the mention of Sandy’s Meet and Eat dining group, which has enabled me to enjoy new friendships with both young and middle-aged (60+) people like myself. Good food, good wine, wonderful company – otherwise I would not venture out alone. (Contributed)

UP to the very nice kind taxi driver who picked me up from the emergency department of the Wagga Base Hospital recently. Thanks for having such a long talk with me and listening to my problems. There should be more people around like you. You are always welcome to pop around and have a cuppa. (Contributed)
