UP to the two young men who were passing by my house in Plumpton Rd, Kooringal, early hours of a recent Saturday morning who upon seeing my garbage bin – which someone had set alight – burning out of control next to my house and car, promptly wheeled it out to the footpath and put the fire out with next door’s hose. My neighbour witnessed this and did come out for a little while but did not get your details. He said you were both very brave as the fire was quite large. I would love it if you could contact me. UP to the inspirational (but unnamed) fellow in a red Falcon from Merimbula who picked up and returned my hydration pack recently. I mistakenly left my hydration pack by the side of the road in Kiandra after cancelling a long-awaited mountain bike ride to Guthega. The pack had everything I would need for the ride – helmet, GPS, camera, food, first aid, maps, tools, spares, Gore-Tex jacket – the lot. While I had my name in the pack there were scant details to find me – this wonderful fellow used my GPS to navigate and get my gear back to me. I always knew there were more honest people than dishonest. In my jubilation at you and your brother (who you were visiting) turning up on our doorstep, pack and GPS in hand, I was so full of thanks that I never ever asked your name and you wouldn’t accept anything other than thank you. Your effort and honesty was much appreciated. (Contributed)

UP to the ANZ Bank in Wagga and their employees. On Thursday, February 21, a movie night showing ET was held at the Civic Centre outside amphitheatre, as part of their “Blue Week” activities to help raise money for the Paediatric Unit at Wagga Base Hospital.

A lot of time and effort was

put into the evening by the

ANZ team. Unfortunately,

the numbers present to enjoy the evening were disappointing but everyone there on the

night had a great time. So thanks guys for the effort. (Contributed)

UP and a big thank you to the Studdert Family (plus John’s wife’s brother and mother) from Wagga who instead of buying gifts for each other at Christmas donated money to the Paediatric Unit at Wagga Base Hospital. They raised $800 and brought much needed craft items and toys for the play therapist to use with the children. The Studdert family were hoping that other families would donate to the Paediatric Unit in the same way as it helps so many children over the year. (Contributed)

UP and congratulations to Grant Manson for his fabulous entertainment on Saturday night, March 1, at the Commercial Club. Grant is a country rock singer who has been living in Queensland for the past 20 years and has now come back to his home town of Wagga. It was a great night. There were approx 300+ people at the show and everyone asked when his next show would be so come on all you clubs in Wagga get some decent entertainment that we can appreciate and dance to and all your members would be amazed at the great sounding voice of Grant Manson. UP to the staff of Regional Imaging Riverina, on Hardy Avenue. I recently had a day procedure there, and found the staff in ultrasound to be very kind and professional – thank you to the doctor performing the surgery,

nurse Helen and all staff

for making it all as painless as possible. (Contributed)

UP to the Swans fan driving the white station wagon at the trial match in Narrandera. After watching the mighty Tigers win over at Narrandera we returned to our car only to find the battery flat. We’d asked every person that passed us, with the standard response of “If I had the ute I’d be able to help you, but left it at home tonight,” and looked to be in for a long night. Then you came along. New leads and all. We didn’t get your name, but thank you for getting us on the road again. (Contributed)

UP to the Tolland Community Centre and its management. You guys have changed our area in ways we least expected. Thank you, I greatly appreciate you assisting me and my family with our problems. I am glad to know you will be there for me and my family. Thank you for the positive changes. (Contributed)

UP and a big thank you to Vicki Lynch of Toll Priority, who went out of her way to ensure documents which “had to be in Albury” the next day arrived on time at their destination. Vicki is always friendly, courteous and has the attitude “nothing is too much trouble”. (Contributed)

UP to all the people who attended North Wagga Public School from 1950 to 1959 and Wagga High School in 1958 and 1959. My sister Janet and I are coming to Wagga in May and are currently trying to contact our classmates and friends who we have lost contact with after leaving Wagga in 1960 as teenagers. We are looking forward to our visit and hoping to catch up with friends from the past. Call Carol Allan (nee Knight) on (08) 8296 1804. (Contributed by Carol and Janet Knight)
