Thumbs Down for 4/3/2008

DOWN to the person who

drove past my house in Lamella Street recently and stopped

to pick up a basketball then took it. You didn’t even look around to see my daughter, who is disabled, playing

with it. It rolled across the road which she could not get to, but then saw you take it and burst into tears. Did you tell your children when you gave it to them that you stole it off a little girl who is now heartbroken? (Contributed)

DOWN to the mindless morons who removed a garbage bin from its metal enclosure in Fitzmaurice Street during the early hours of a recent Sunday morning. To then deliberately throw it off the lagoon bridge into the lagoon proves you are descendents of baboons. Is this yet another example of responsible service of alcohol? Up, however, to Wagga City Council parks and gardens employee

Julian who removed the bin and all the rubbish on

Sunday morning. He responded immediately

when advised of the situation and did a fantastic job removing the mess. (Contributed)

DOWN to the organisers of the AFL match at Narrandera for the lack of options to purchase tickets. Wagga patrons wishing to purchase tickets before 10am and after 5pm at the local club selling tickets were turned away days before the match and on game day the only place Wagga patrons could

buy tickets was from the

gate on the evening which

also means having to wait in line for a longer period of time. This also means driving hundreds of kilometres on the whim tickets might actually still be available. Maybe next time the ticket outlets could consider opening later hours or being open on game day to give football fans this option. (Contributed)

DOWN to those people who walk their dogs in Tamar

Drive, Tatton and fail to pick up their dogs' droppings. We all know who you are, and we wonder if you would like the deposits returned to your front lawn. Carry a bag – surely it can’t be too much trouble. (Contributed)

DOWN to the closure of the Ashmont Pharmacy. This was an unexpected blow to the community. There are many frail-aged folk here and many young families who have used this facility. We pride ourselves in the “fair go” in this country, but this is far from it. It would seem that money and its old friend greed are in this together, with no consideration given to the customers. We don’t wish to go to Glenfield, and furthermore, we can’t get there! This community sticks together and we consider this to be the lowest kick in the guts we have ever had. (Contributed)

DOWN to the mindless vandals who plastered their tasteless graffiti on the ABC Ashmont Central building and courtesy bus. The young children who attend the centre do not need to read your profanities. Grow up and get a new hobby. (Contributed)

DOWN to the owners of the Ashmont Chemist for selling the pharmacy licence so that no other pharmacy can operate in our shopping centre. This is criminal. (Contributed)
