DOWN to a local worker. I can understand that you must get a lot of people parking in your reserved car park spots at the back of your store, but we weren’t one of them. If you took the time to take in what you were witnessing, I was merely making a three-point turn as there was traffic trying to get pass. Instead we got hurled foul language and abuse. After approaching you in store again I received more foul language and more abuse. My advice to you would be get some anger management support and chill out. (Contributed)
DOWN to the reader in April 23’s edition, who referred to the intersection with the Olympic Highway and Red Hill Road, and the perceived lack of an “acceleration lane” for traffic entering the Olympic Highway on the southbound route. Excuse me, but last I looked, the WWCC is not responsible for the traffic rules that apply in all of NSW. Are we, the general public, to presume that traffic from Red Hill Road, a minor side road, has precedence over traffic on a highway that has traffic quite legitimally travelling at 100km/h? The correspondent compounds their complaint by trying to infer that the traffic on the highway is “probably speeding”, and on top of that, traffic entering from an 80km/h zone side road, at a T intersection, should have preference? Which part of the traffic regulations of the NSW RTA don’t you understand? (Contributed)
DOWN to the boating enthusiasts who want the end of the lake dredged. I walked around the lake recently and there were more than 20 black swans and other water birds feeding at the northern end. With the drought, they say that bird populations have drastically declined, so they will probably become a few more statistics. (Contributed)
DOWN to all the drunken revellers starting fights outside the pubs recently. This is a strain on the staff, the police and the community as a whole. Here’s an idea to benefit everyone: why not make closing time earlier? (Contributed)
DOWN to the reader who recently complained about the Redhill Road bypass and indicated that trucks coming up the Olympic Highway were speeding. My husband is an interstate truck driver and his truck, along with most others, has a speed limiter fitted, which means the truck will not go over 100km/h. Mind you, when coming down hill you do get run off and will go over 100 if you don’t brake. Truck drivers do their best to follow the rules, with all their log book checks and weight bridge stops, they have authorities breathing down their necks. There are only a few who break the rules, and I can assure you, there are 100 times more car drivers who speed and break the rules than trucks. Shouldn’t you be giving way to oncoming traffic anyway? DOWN to whoever designed the Lake Village Shopping Centre car park. It’s quite obvious that you now need a separate exit and entry drive way to the centre with the increased traffic flow. (Contributed)
DOWN to the person complaining about the trucks on Red Hill Road bypass. Semi and B-double trucks are speed-limited. Speed sensors are installed in every dash of each Australian truck. They are also heavily time-distance monitored and incur large fines for speeding. I don’t care how many years you have been driving your car, a truck driver doing 3000kms per week has more driving and road skills than you ever will. You should give those truck drivers a break. Without them you would have no meat, no milk, no food at the supermarket, no petrol. I say thumbs up to our truck drivers. Pay them a bit of respect. (Contributed)
